Further Enhances security and privacy of health records and information
Burlington, MA - Silverlink Communications, the leader in personalized voice solutions for client communication, today announced that the company is in compliance with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability & Accountability) Security Rule, which goes into effect April 21, 2005. The HIPAA Security Rule covers EPHI (Electronic Private Health Information) and supports original HIPAA legislation of 1996 under the Office of Civil Rights designed to protect the privacy and security of personal health records.
"The new rule forces greater accountability for the privacy of electronic records," said Paulo Matos, COO and co-founder of Silverlink. "This rule establishes explicit administrative, physical and technical safeguards for Covered Entities and their Business Associates. With the Security Rule, companies are forced to embrace compliance in new and concrete ways. The work we have done to support the new regulations ensures that compliance is an integral part of the way we run our business every day."
CEO and co-founder Stan Nowak said, "With consumers playing a greater role in managing their own care, the challenge for healthcare companies today is to communicate valuable and specific information with members to help drive better member decision-making. In our business of enabling communications between healthcare companies and consumers, privacy and security are top priorities. HIPAA compliance requires technology, operating procedures, training and internal audits, but it's an investment that is a critical pre-requisite to serving the healthcare market today."
With Silverlink’s compliance with the new HIPAA ePHI regulation, customers can continue to implement proactive outbound call campaigns that are fully personalized without violating health information guidelines.
