Silverlink Communications Inc., a provider of voice applications for automated, interactive phone calls for the healthcare industry, said that it named Tom McNamara senior vice president of sales.
In this role, McNamara, 49 years old, will be responsible for working with the sales force and generating revenue through retaining and expanding Silverlink's customer base.
According to Kat Eden, Silverlink director of marketing communications, McNamara was chosen to fill this position due to the experience and relationships that he has developed in the healthcare industry. "We needed someone who understands the large names in the industry, and he has proven that he can build a sales team that produces results," Eden said.
Prior to joining Silverlink, McNamara was principal and co-founder of Sales Acceleration LLC, a provider of management consulting and contract sales force services to early stage technology companies. Before that, he was president and chief operations officer of W3 Health, a healthcare information technology company. At HPR Inc., he served as senior president of marketing as well as senior vice president of sales. He was also vice president of sales for Lawson Software and director of sales for Pansophic Systems Inc.
McNamara officially began around May 15 in the newly created position. Previously, Silverlink Chief Executive Stan Nowak managed all sales, said Eden.
Founded in 2001, Silverlink has headquarters in Burlington, Mass. The company has raised about $8.3 million, including a $5.6 million series B round that closed in May. That round was led by new investor HLM Venture Partners L.P. and included participation from Series A investor Sigma Partners and certain undisclosed members of Silverlink management. The proceeds from the round are being used for operations, sales and marketing, service delivery and software development. Eden said that these funds are expected to take the company to profitability by the second half of 2005.
According to Eden, the company has 20 employees, up from eight at the same time a year ago. The company is increasing its direct sales force, along with its development staff; there is an emphasis on growth in the sales and marketing division.
Silverlink's SAVVI product is software delivered as a service for healthcare companies to create and manage automated personalized communications with thousands of patients or members at a time.
